Nail Tech Spotlight: Coral Kendall

For this month's nail tech spotlight we are showcasing the super talented Coral of @ohlushnails. 

Coral has an independent vegan nail studio in Cardiff and is always posting the cutest designs! Here are a few of our faves.

Q&A With Coral

What more can be done in the industry to raise awareness about equality?

Everyone in the industry needs to be continuously educating themselves, diversifying their personal communities and making sure they are providing for the needs of all. We often see the same type of person represented throughout the nail industry (Cis, White, Able Bodied), both as the professional and the client. However this isn’t representative of what the nail industry looks like as a whole and this needs to change going forward.

Why did you choose HONA?

When returning to work after my maternity leave I knew I needed to rebrand and I spent ages searching for one that suited my needs in terms of product range, ingredients and ethics. I've had an allergy to adhesive ingredients since a child but had never considered the connection between some gel products and my allergy until my Midwife pointed it out. Once I found HONA it was like hitting the jackpot to find a Vegan and Hypoallergenic company that was also Wales based.

What is your favourite season for nail designs?

I love summer because it's when most people really let loose with choosing colours. I love trying to see how many colours I can get in one art set, so when summer comes and people just want something fun I get so excited!

If you had a piece of advice for a nail technician who has just become a new parent, what would it be?

I think all new parents need the reminder to breathe and reach out for support if you need it. I was a bit naïve about how overwhelming being a new parent would be and found reaching out quite hard because I felt like I should be able to do it all. Yet no one will judge you for needing help, really that's the best thing to do.
